Annual Fundraising Events
The annual Tygh Valley Bluegrass Jamboree is a blend of community, music, and the great outdoors. Almost immediately upon arrival at beautiful Wasco County Fairgrounds, folks set up camp and connect with one another.
Music cuts through the campground. The warm feels of a family reunion fill the air. Mike Burns, first-time attendee, marveled at the friendliness and encouragement he experienced at the 2022 Jamboree. "What a great event!" he exclaimed. "Everyone was so inclusive and uplifting at the jams. I had a wonderful time!"
But this festival is more than just a jamboree – it's a force for good. The Tygh Valley Bluegrass Jamboree serves as the main fundraising arm of Shaniko Music Sanctuary. Ticket proceeds go directly to bolstering music education in South Wasco County.
Hoot, Holler & Sing is a free event, focused on bringing together the community through music. The Oregon Bluegrass Association takes advantage of this weekend gathering in Shaniko to host its annual members meeting.
Drawing bluegrass advocates together from around the state is a great opportunity to educate and discuss the importance of keeping music education accessible in the schools.
We often have conversations about how to keep the bluegrass tradition alive and thriving, and it has to center on getting the youth involved.
We will partner with local schools this year to encourage aspiring young musicians to come and jam along.
